SEN Teaching Assistant Position: SEN Teaching Assistant Salary: Full-Time Equivalent (FTE): £22,070 Location: Launceston Contract Type: Permanent / Variable (Initially until the end of the academic year) Hours: 26.75 hours per week Start Date: As soon as possible School Base: EYFS/Year 1 (1-1 TA support) About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Launceston as soon as possible. In this permanent role (with variable hours initially until the end of the academic year), you will provide 1-1 support to a child in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Year 1. Your main responsibility will be to assist the child with special educational needs (SEN) in their academic and social development, ensuring their wellbeing in a safe and nurturing environment. This role is an excellent opportunity to work closely with experienced educators to make a meaningful impact on the life of a child requiring additional support. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1-1 support to a child in EYFS/Year 1 with special educational needs. Assist with the child’s academic, social, and emotional development. Collaborate with the class teacher to tailor activities and support to the child’s individual needs. Ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. Monitor and report on the child’s progress, providing feedback to the teaching team. What We’re Looking For: Qualifications: Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential. GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Level 2 standard). Skills: Strong literacy and numeracy skills are essential. Experience: Experience in supporting children with special educational needs is desirable. DBS: An up-to-date DBS check registered on the update service is required. Personal Qualities: Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting children with SEN. A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of young learners.
