Job Title: Learning Support for PMLD/SLD Students
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our special school in Rotherham. The school primarily provides education for students with complex physical and medical needs, including severe and profound learning difficulties (SLD/PMLD).
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide learning support to students with SLD/PMLD.
2. Assist in planning and delivering individual education plans.
3. Support students with daily living skills, including personal care and feeding.
4. Create a safe and stimulating learning environment.
5. Monitor and record student progress.
6. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals for a holistic approach to learning.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Experience working with students with SLD/PMLD.
* Understanding of the physical and medical needs of students.
* Ability to provide personal care and support with feeding.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Flexible and creative approach to support.
* Positive, caring attitude towards students, colleagues, and families.
* Willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to the school community.
* Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
* Experience in a special school setting.
* Relevant qualifications in learning support or special education.
* Knowledge of communication systems like PECS, Makaton, etc.
* Experience with assistive technology and specialized equipment.

Pay rates are inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with potential for permanent employment in the future.
