SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The Trainee Field Engineer will work alongside experienced engineers to learn how to carry out preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations of suspended access and height safety equipment. The role includes training on troubleshooting emergency breakdowns, working with customers, and complying with health and safety regulations. Over time, the trainee will develop the skills necessary to work independently within the field.
OVERVIEW OF ACCOUNTABILITIES
Technical Learning & Development
* Assist in servicing, maintaining, and repairing height safety equipment, including:
o Fall Arrest and Life Safety Lines
o Eyebolts - fall restraint and abseil
o Gantries and walkways
o Guardrails
o Ladders - fixed and portable
o General lifting equipment
* Follow company training programs to develop technical knowledge and practical skills.
* Shadow senior engineers to gain a deep understanding of troubleshooting and repair techniques.
* Ensure compliance with British Standards and health and safety regulations.
Customer Engagement
* Learn how to communicate effectively with customers, addressing inquiries and providing updates on work progress.
* Assist in reporting additional work required following inspections or maintenance tasks.
* Maintain a professional and positive company image at all times.
Site Surveys and Reporting
* Assist in site surveys, accurately recording all relevant information.
* Support the team by documenting findings and communicating them to the line manager.
Customer Care
* Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by consistently meeting or exceeding expectations.
* Uphold the company's image by representing it in a professional manner at all times.
Order Management
* Help compile service reports and communicate findings clearly to customers.
* Ensure all required information is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner onto the Simpro Software Application.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
* Willingness to learn and develop within an engineering role.
* Ability to work at heights.
* Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
* Team-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* A full, clean UK driving license (or working towards obtaining one).
Desirable
* Previous experience in a hands-on role (construction, electrical, mechanical, or similar).
* Basic engineering knowledge or qualifications.
* An interest in height safety equipment and working at heights.
Training and Development
* Full training will be provided, including classroom-based and on-the-job learning.

Pay: £24,000.00 per year
