The Crisis Service and Diagnostic Center
This program is designed to offer individual tailored assistance and brief (up to 90-day) stabilization for a maximum of sixteen (16) adults aged 18 and above, who have intellectual or developmental disabilities and/or concurrent mental health diagnoses. These individuals are experiencing psychiatric symptoms and/or significant emotional/behavioral changes that negatively impact their functioning and jeopardize their ability to stay in their usual home environment.
Location/Schedule
750 Hazel Street, Macon Georgia. Rotating 12-hour shifts Sun-Sat 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am.
Responsibilities:
* Implement behavior support plans developed by the behavior analyst to promote skill acquisition, replacement behaviors, and address challenging behaviors exhibited by individuals in the center.
* Assist staff during crisis situations, utilizing techniques such as de-escalation strategies, calming techniques, and behavior redirection to ensure the safety of all individuals and staff involved.
* Collect and maintain accurate behavioral data to track progress and inform the behavior analyst of any significant changes.
* Work closely with the behavior analyst and direct support staff to coordinate crisis management approaches and ensure consistency in behavior support strategies.
* Assist in conducting functional behavior assessments by presenting data and conducting staff interviews to assist with identifying triggers and patterns contributing to crisis situations.
* Implement and model behavior support strategies to promote replacement behaviors and prevent harmful behaviors.
* Model appropriate behavior management and crisis intervention techniques for direct support staff based on the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA).
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of interventions, progress notes, and incident reports.
* Maintain open communication channels with the behavior analyst, individuals, and direct care staff to ensure continuity of care and effective crisis resolution.
* Address any personnel issues to promote a productive and supportive work environment.
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies relevant to crisis services.
Qualifications Needed (education and/or experience):
* Requires High School Diploma.
* Requires certification as a registered behavioral technician.
* At least 2 years working in behavioral health, with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), or related field.
* Must have good computer skills.
* Communication skills and the ability to foster good relationships among others is a plus.
* Preferred IDD experience.
