Main duties of the job Direct Clinical Work Working flexibly and creatively with a dynamic caseload offering assessments; developing and sharing formulations; and delivering evidence-based psychological interventions. Contributing towards the development, delivery, and evaluation of group interventions Indirect Clinical Work Working alongside as integral member of the MDT to deliver joint work; and to promote psychological thinking and approaches; and contribute to care plans. Facilitating team formulation through formal consultation and informal discussion. Supervision of Assistant Psychologists, Trainee Clinical Psychologists, and other members of the psychology team. They will also enjoy a close relationship with the rest of the IMHT psychology team, consisting of an Assistant Psychologist, two CAPS workers, a CBT therapist. The successful candidate will be supported to engage in regular CPD, with opportunities for further training and development and specialist supervision in EMDR and CBT if required. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria It is a condition of employment that the post-holder is registered with the Health Professions Council and is eligible for registration as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist. Good undergraduate degree (preferably relevant to psychological therapy) Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, conferring eligibility for chartership with the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology. Current registration/accreditation with appropriate body with current practising certificate Desirable criteria Additional training in neuropsychology, cognitive assessment, working with people with dementia, working with challenging behaviour, staff supervision Involvement with Faculty of Psychology for Older People within the British Psychological Society, and/or the Association of Clinical Psychologists Experience Essential criteria Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings. Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse. Desirable criteria Experience of working with older people with mental health difficulties Experience of working with people with dementia Experience of staff supervision Skills Essential criteria Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration. Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS. Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups. Desirable criteria Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in people with some form of disability (including cognitive, learning or sensory disability) or physical health difficulty.
