Immigration Department Background:
We have one of the largest legal aid immigration law practices in the UK and are ranked by The Legal 500 directory for services including business immigration, human rights, appeals, and overstay. Our immigration lawyers are specialists in asylum, human rights, nationality, and business immigration.
Main Responsibilities of the Role:
* Report directly to Department Director
* Responsible for all aspects of Immigration work including providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members
* Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers
* Assist with delivery of appropriate training and development in the department
* Handle a variety of Immigration work, including detained clients, victims of trafficking & torture, asylum work, entry clearance applications, and some judicial review work
* Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
* Prepare draft documents including witness statements and processing evidence
* Attend conferences and court
* Demonstrate a professional pro-active approach and strong client care skills
Key Skills Required:
* Registered with the Law Society Immigration & Asylum Law Accreditation (membership is desirable)
* Must have a clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of applying
* Proven supervisory experience and ability to work to key performance indicators
* Excellent client care skills and ability to deal with vulnerable client matters sensitively
* Excellent networking and communication skills
* Working knowledge of publicly funded Immigration work
* Extensive experience in dealing with all Immigration related work
* Excellent IT Skills - familiar with Microsoft Office applications
