With the introduction of new digital solutions, our contractor is seeking to appoint an experienced Information/BIM Manager to oversee a team of digital professionals for a new power transmission framework.
Reporting to the Digital Project Solutions (DPS) Business Partner within a matrix structure, this role focuses on implementing information management and digital strategy on tenders and projects. You will plan and manage the use of digital tools to capture, share, and use information to enhance project/contract delivery. This role is responsible for service delivery of project or contract information management and tactical deployment of project-based technology.
Minimum Requirements
1. Demonstrates potential to lead in a team environment.
2. Efficiency in time management and achieving goals.
3. Developing management and communication skills (written and verbal).
4. Developing experience in digital construction/facilities management and information management.
5. Awareness of the design and construction industry and the tendering process.
6. Ability to contribute to prequalification and tender submissions.
7. Working knowledge of ISO19650 series.
8. Educational Background: Higher Education in Construction or related fields (or equivalent).
9. Minimum 1 year of experience working on construction projects/FM contracts with a focus on digital solutions.
Management Responsibilities
1. Delivers pipeline and workload management to meet customer needs on tenders and projects, coordinating with DPS Engineers, Production, and Support for appropriate resources.
2. Advise clients, ensuring their business requirements are met with exemplary plans, specifications, reviews, and controls.
3. Implement process improvements on tenders and projects using digital tools.
4. Contribute to and engage with DPS Centres of Excellence (CoE) for best practice guidance.
5. Stay updated on digital advancements and industry developments, championing within tenders and projects.
6. Adhere to industry standards, company procedures, and legal requirements, communicating any opportunities or threats to DPS and the tenders and projects we support.
7. Coordinate disciplines and DPS members for ISO19650 audits.
8. Work to health & safety, environmental, and quality standards, delivering in accordance with company policies and reporting non-compliance.
9. Support the implementation of the DPS digital strategy.
Project / Contract Level Responsibilities
Leadership
1. Support the management of risk, opportunity, change, and commercial impact communication within the project/contract team, ensuring compliance with company procedures.
2. Ensure the Responsibility Matrix is complete, agreed upon, and communicated effectively to the Delivery Team.
3. Facilitate information management training, supporting the Delivery Team and stakeholders as required.
4. Align technical solutions with approved technology applications.
Information Management
1. Manage the delivery of the Project and/or Asset Information Model, as specified in the Exchange Information Requirements (EIRs) and company requirements.
2. Lead the development of the company’s ISO19650 protocol and associated deliverables.
3. Working with DPS Support, implement systems for information management, sharing, and storage according to security protocols, including archiving and disposal.
4. Manage the Common Data Environment(s) and facilitate training and support for its use.
Stakeholder Management
1. Act as the information advisor to tender/project/contract teams, clients/employers, and stakeholders, ensuring the company’s ISO19650 protocol and delivery plan are achieved.
2. Build trusted relationships with the wider DPS, and commercial, legal, and procurement functions to ensure supply chain compliance with client and company requirements – including contribution to the Responsibility Matrix, Master and Task Information Delivery Plans (MIDP & TIDP).
3. Secure DPS Support and IT resources for digital systems mobilisation and maintenance, ensuring data integrity.
4. Collaborate with IT and DPS Support for fit-for-purpose digital systems and methods.
5. Instigate and manage collaboration with IT and DPS Support to ensure that digital systems and working methods are fit for purpose and efficient for the relevant stage of the project/asset lifecycle.
6. Ensure compliance with the company’s ISO19650 protocol and procedures and address any non-compliance.
Communication
1. Prepare and provide reports, analysis, and forecasting as required.
2. Prepare and handover the tender/project Mobilisation Plan to DPS Support and IT Business Partner for mobilisation of tender/project technology.
3. Maintain excellent communication with all stakeholders, providing necessary reports, analysis, and forecasting.
4. Work closely with commercial, legal, and procurement teams for supply chain capability assessments and gap analysis regarding compliance with tender and project information requirements.
DPS Knowledge Area
1. Knowledge - 4D programme to improve understanding of the construction sequence and support risk reduction.
2. Knowledge – 5D Forecasting (Link between programme, model, cost and how to extract information required for the job role).
3. Ability - Apply data validation techniques to construction information.
4. Ability - Develop standard Information Management templates to achieve project requirements.
5. Ability - Map information flow in terms of inputs, processes, and outputs.
6. Knowledge - Interface between digital software and technology.
7. Ability - Usage of quality documentation e.g., EIR, IM Protocol, Responsibility Matrix, Mobilisation Plan, and MIDP to effectively manage, communicate and deliver information requirements.
8. Ability - Specify and manage the production of federated 3D models to meet project and role requirements.
9. Ability - Project delivery/handover formats (e.g., COBie etc.).
