Job Description:
Working as part of a team undertaking assessments of Connected Carers in accordance with the Fostering National Minimum Standards, Fostering Regulations and guidance for Special Guardianship Orders.
Alongside supporting the potential carer through early placement (if the child is already placed), the assessment and care planning process includes undertaking viability assessments, usually completed in one-off visits which are often required in short timescales, or Part 2 assessments which take place over 16 to 24 weeks and provide a more detailed and in-depth insight into the potential carers and their capacity to care, exploring the match with the child or young person.
The team has responsibility for all of Suffolk and there is potential for travel when carers live in other counties. The team is also responsible for Private Fostering; there may be limited involvement in this area of work, but if demand increases, there will be a requirement to undertake Private Fostering assessments and maintain case responsibility for children, young people, and their PF carers.
