An opportunity has arisen for a Systems Engineer within Thales OME, the role can be based in Reading or Glasgow and depending on the specific project role may require some travel and time spent at other Thales sites, Customer sites or integration and test facilities. As a Systems Engineer you will contribute towards the systems engineering design activities throughout the engineering project involving: Definition of Systems Requirements for the product Creation of design documentation capturing the systems engineering design Definition of the internal and external interfaces of the system Development of test procedures to support the verification of the system Carrying out integration and verification testing against test procedures Conducting activities to gather evidence that the systems requirements have been achieved The successful candidate should be a good communicator who is proactive with: Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team Experience in defining systems interfaces, boundaries and external factors Knowledge of how to extract user needs and wants from a design brief Knowledge of how to ensure a system is fit for purpose in its operating environment It would be beneficial if the candidate also has: Experience of the decomposition of a systems design to sub-system level An understanding of systems modelling techniques Experience of analysing potential solutions against the key needs in a design brief Experience of using design analysis techniques (trade-off analysis, calculations, modelling and simulation, etc.) This role will report to the Discipline Manager for Systems Engineering. In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided.
