Edit Producer, The Vault - BBC Studios Documentary Unit, Salford
Job Introduction
BBC Studios Documentary Unit, Salford is seeking TWO experienced Northwest based Edit Producers for a new premium history series, set in the world of the Olympics. You will have a keen editorial eye, a track record of scripting long-form documentaries and the ability to creatively use archive. Experience supervising editors building and using GFX is essential. The ideal candidate would have a strong interest in both sport and history.
Main Responsibilities
As Edit Producer you’ll be responsible for marshalling multiple storylines, navigating and using footage from both archive and specially shot rushes. You’ll need impeccable organisational skills and a solid attention to detail as well as an awareness of the legal and compliance issues around creating content for an international audience.
The EP role also gives you the opportunity to really shape the look and feel of this exciting new series, working closely with editors and the series producer.
Are you the right candidate?
1. You will have sound editorial judgement and be highly organised, comfortable with delivering to deadlines in a fast paced environment.
2. You will be an excellent story teller with the ability to approach historical and sporting material in a creative way, with a particular understanding of the socio-political context of the Olympic Games.
3. Experience supervising editors through the production of a series.
4. Creative, inventive, innovative approach to story-telling- especially with archive, stills and graphics.
5. A passion for sports and history is preferred.
6. Experience of working on comparable output.
7. Writing edit scripts, working with editors and GFX creators to bring a fresh perspective to the material.
