The Finance Manager is responsible for leading a finance team, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, and managing the organisation's treasury functions. This role focuses on optimising cash flow, maintaining strong financial controls, and driving team performance to support business goals. What you'll do: Team Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor a small finance team, ensuring high performance and professional growth. Oversee recruitment, training, and development plans to build a motivated and skilled team. Monitor team workloads, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure deadlines are met. Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the finance team. Treasury Management: Oversee the organisation's cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for operational and strategic needs. Develop and implement cash flow forecasting models to support financial planning. Manage banking relationships, including monitoring facilities, negotiating terms, and ensuring efficient banking operations. Identify and implement strategies to optimise working capital, including receivables, payables, and inventory management. Support decision-making on investments, debt management, and currency exposure where relevant. Transactional Oversight: Ensure the smooth operation of transactional finance processes, including supplier payments, customer receipts, and payroll. Maintain tight control over credit management processes, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts. Oversee the reconciliation of bank accounts and other key ledger balances. Internal Controls and Compliance: Establish and maintain strong internal financial controls to safeguard assets and maintain operational integrity. Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax obligations. Support internal and external audit processes and act as the primary point of contact for auditors. Business Partnering: Work closely with senior stakeholders to provide financial insights and guidance, particularly in treasury and cash management. Collaborate with operational teams to support decision-making and improve financial processes. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations. Drive the automation of treasury and transactional processes where possible. Continuously review and optimise policies and procedures to align with best practices. What you'll need: Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). Treasury Expertise: Strong understanding of cash flow management and treasury operations. Experience in managing banking relationships and optimising working capital. Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading and developing a team. Ability to motivate and manage team members to achieve departmental goals. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to present financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Experience: Prior experience in a Finance Manager role, with a focus on team management and treasury. Demonstrated success in improving financial processes and controls.
