National Grid is hiring a Capital Contracts Manager for our Customer Connections department in Warwick.
About the role
Within the Customer Connections Directorate, the role of the Engineering and Consultancy Solutions (ECS) Team is to maximise opportunities from the provision of contestable construction services to our customers.
The ECS Capital Team focusses on services related to the construction of new capital assets within National Grid substations, which provides an alternative for our customers. This service delivered by the ESC Capital Team provides a direct value in excess of £4m annual profit for National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET).
The Capital Contracts Manager will lead the team and will be accountable for providing strategic direction, leadership and driving portfolio growth whilst ensuring we deliver a high-quality service to customers from initial contact through to completion of works. This includes maximising returns from existing and future contracts in line with business expectations.
What you'll do
1. Accountable for the portfolio of ECS Capital contracts with an annual turnover in excess of £30m, ensuring NGET meets its contractual obligations, whilst delivering the contract’s profitability and maintaining cashflow by implementing and ensuring robust contract management procedures are in place.
2. Accountable for development and negotiation of contractual terms and conditions that are acceptable to both NGET and customers, utilising commercial acumen to ensure that all commercial risk is identified and managed.
3. Accountable for managing and influencing internal stakeholders to gain business support and enable development and delivery of the services necessary to undertake such works.
4. Responsible for ensuring compliance with National Grid governance arrangements, licence requirements, relevant legislation and protecting National Grid’s financial position and reputation.
5. Responsible for team members in ensuring effective scoping and understanding of technical matters, when developing and executing a bid, pricing and risk strategy. As well as when preparing and negotiating conditions of a contract for the development and submission of bids.
6. Accountable for growing the unlicensed customer base, through new and existing customers, whilst coaching and supporting team to secure new business.
7. Responsible for developing growth strategies for new customers and seeking out new opportunities in the external market to develop a business whereby NGET provides goods and services to customers.
8. Working alongside the other members of the Customer Connections Leadership Team, to manage the unlicensed activities, through the management of contracts as well as establishing ways of working to ensure customer service metrics are established and achieved.
9. Responsible for data analytics and visibility of customer performance across unlicensed business, to identify areas of opportunity and value for the business, along with any risks that need to be mitigated.
10. Responsible for the customer feedback received, ensuring plans are developed and acted upon.
11. Accountable for leading initiatives to improve service delivery through gaining support for initiatives/programmes at the most senior levels within ET and across National Grid.
About you
1. Ideally have experience of managing a customer service team gained within a B2B environment.
2. Construction or Utility industry knowledge a distinct advantage.
3. Proficient in the use of CRM systems.
4. Regulatory and energy industry understanding.
5. Track record of using customer feedback to enact change.
6. Demonstrable experience of preparing and managing NEC ECC contracts.
7. Advanced customer and commercial management.
8. Advanced contract management.
9. Skilled and experienced in developing strategies and applying to large and diverse organisations.
10. Advanced stakeholder management collaborating successfully across all key stakeholders.
11. Strong project management with focus on both outcomes and outputs.
