We are looking for an experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, Band 8a to work in our Derby City Adult CMHTs.
The post is based at St Andrew's House, Derby, which also benefits from being very near the train station, with reliable rail links and a 3 minute walk from the station.
You would be joining our Division of Psychology & Psychological Therapies, with dedicated values-based psychology leadership and management, and a vision to make a positive difference to the people of Derbyshire.

Main duties of the job
Your role will be to provide individual and group psychological therapy within the CMHTs in Derby. You will work together with experienced Clinical Psychologists/Psychological therapists, and integrate into one of the CMHTs. Working alongside your MDT colleagues, you will support, promote and develop psychological thinking, formulation and approaches. You will offer advice and consultation in addition to supervision and training to colleagues, multi-disciplinary practitioners, the wider organisation and contribute to service development, research/service evaluation. You will support other psychologists, trainees and assistants to provide the best service possible. You will be managed by a Clinical Psychologist within the Division of Psychology & Psychological Therapies, whilst embedded within the MDT structures of the Adult CMHTs.

Job responsibilities
Key Clinical responsibilities:
1. Provision of specialist psychological assessments of service users referred based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, family members and others involved in the service users care.
2. Formulating and implementing plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a service users psychological difficulties, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the service users problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy across the full range of care settings.
3. Implementing a range of highly specialised psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups, adjusting, and refining psychological formulations as required and to monitor and evaluate progress of interventions.
4. Evaluating and making decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family, or group.
5. Exercising autonomous professional responsibility within the context of multidisciplinary team working, for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of service users.
6. Consulting, advising, and/or supervising colleagues from other disciplines on the psychological formulation and management of patients with mental health problems, particularly in areas of specialist knowledge.
7. Contributing directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all users of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the service user group.
8. Implementing case management including working within the framework of the Care Programme Approach, fulfilling the role of care co-ordinator as appropriate; initiating planning and review of care plans involving service users, carers, and others involved in the care package, in this process.
9. Assessing, monitoring, and managing clinical risk to minimise this risk to patients, other people, and oneself, and providing advice on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management.
Person Specification
Training and Qualifications
Essential
* Good Honours degree in Psychology (2:1 or above). Eligibility for Graduate membership of BPS
* Post-graduate doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or those in lateral transfer) as accredited by the B.P.S./HCPC
* Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist by the HCPC
* Eligible for Chartered status of BPS
* Post qualification training in supervision of other psychologists
* Post qualification specialist training/experience of assessment/intervention for people with complex mental health problems
