Humanoid is the first AI and robotics company in the UK, creating the world’s most advanced, reliable, commercially scalable, and safe humanoid robots. Our first humanoid robot HMND 01 is a next-gen labour automation unit, providing highly efficient services across various use cases, starting with industrial applications.
Our Mission:
At Humanoid we strive to create the world’s leading, commercially scalable, safe, and advanced humanoid robots that seamlessly integrate into daily life and amplify human capacity.
Vision:
In a world where artificial intelligence opens up new horizons, our faith in its potential unveils a new outlook where, together, humans and machines build a new future filled with knowledge, inspiration, and incredible discoveries. The development of a functional humanoid robot underpins an era of abundance and well-being where poverty will disappear, and people will be able to choose what they want to do. We believe that providing a universal basic income will eventually be a true evolution of our civilization.
Solution:
As the demands on our built environment rise, labour shortages loom. With the world’s workforce increasingly moving away from undesirable tasks, the manufacturing, construction, and logistics industries critical to our daily lives are left exposed. By deploying our general-purpose humanoid robots in environments deemed hazardous or monotonous, we envision a future where human well-being is safeguarded while closing the gaps in critical global labour needs.
We seek a strong Infrastructure & Network Engineer to help design, maintain, and optimise the networking and computing infrastructure supporting our robotics development, testing, and production environments.
You will be key in managing lab- and enterprise-grade infrastructure, working closely with teleoperation, AI, and robotics teams to ensure fast, reliable, and secure connectivity between cloud services, local servers, robots, and operators.
This role involves hands-on support for network configuration, local server environments, storage solutions, and on-premise GPU clusters, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities
* Manage and optimise lab networking, including routers, switches, VLANs, and Wi-Fi configuration, to ensure stable, high-performance connectivity for robotic testing environments.
* To support the teleoperation team, ensure low-latency, high-bandwidth communication pipelines between operators and robots in production or test environments.
* Administer and maintain local servers and storage systems, including NAS appliances, ensuring data availability, backups, and secure access control.
* Design, deploy, and maintain scalable and secure IT infrastructure on-premises (in labs or data centres) or hybrid/cloud environments.
* Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, ensuring quality of service (QoS), uptime, and reliable connectivity across all environments.
* Define and enforce infrastructure security best practices, including access control, firewall rules, VPNs, and traffic monitoring.
* Maintain documentation for all network configurations, topologies, procedures, and hardware assets.
Expertise
* Proven experience in network engineering, including Wi-Fi setup, switching, routing, and network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, PHY basics, iptables).
* Hands-on experience managing NAS systems and local storage solutions for high-volume robotics or AI workloads.
* Experience administering Linux-based local servers, file systems, and hardware configurations in lab or enterprise environments.
* Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code, automated provisioning, and configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
* Strong understanding of IT security principles, especially for mixed on-prem and cloud environments.
* Comfortable with hardware installation, cable management, and diagnosing physical network/storage issues in lab settings.
* Experience supporting real-time applications or high-availability systems that depend on fast and stable networking.
Preferred Skills
* Experience managing GPU servers, containerised workloads, and Kubernetes clusters.
* Experience with hybrid setups integrating on-premise infrastructure with cloud services (e.g., AWS, GCP).
* Familiarity with teleoperation systems, game streaming, or low-latency video/control pipelines.
* Experience monitoring infrastructure with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Netdata, or similar.
* Ability to write basic scripts in Python, Bash, or similar for automation and monitoring.
* Strong documentation and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
