Chair of the Board, Graphite Living
Location: Newcastle
Remuneration: £12,750 per annum
Closing date: Monday 17th March 2025 at 9am
We’re seeking an experienced and dynamic Board Chair to join the board of our new for-profit registered provider.
At Karbon Group, we build, own and manage homes for people across the North. And then we go further, we want to build better lives for our customers, not just better homes. Everything we do is for their security, health and happiness under their own roofs, in their communities and out there in the wider world.
We’re passionate about the people and communities across our regions and we’re committed to helping meet the national housing shortage in our area. To help us to do so, we’re establishing a new for-profit registered provider called Graphite Living, which will be a subsidiary of Karbon Group.
Under this model, we’ll jointly own the new for-profit company with an investor partner which we’ll be appointing in due course. It is important that our investor partner shares our focus on quality and customers and truly values the social housing sector.
The new organisation will work closely alongside Karbon, which will remain a not-for-profit charitable organisation.
We’re initially recruiting two board members, including a Chair, to help shape and oversee this exciting new organisation, which will be guided by a strong social ethos.
As Chair of the Board, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s direction, ensuring effective governance, strong leadership and overseeing its long-term success. You will work closely with Karbon’s Group’s Executive Team and its Board to balance commercial success with social impact - or as we say at Karbon, you’ll ‘balance a sound business head with a strong social heart’. You’ll ensure the organisation operates well and within the regulatory requirements of the Regulator of Social Housing.
We’re seeking someone who has operated as a board chair or CEO, with experience in either financial, banking or investment roles or experience of developing new homes, in either for-profit or charitable sectors. So, if you are an inspirational, strong leader at board level, and passionate about the housing sector, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re committed to diversity and inclusion and encourage applications from individuals from all backgrounds, including those with lived experience in social housing.
