Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer Location: Remote (within two hours of Reading, UK) Salary: Up to £50,000 (flexible for the right candidate) Start Date: ASAP Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Infrastructure Engineer with strong practical experience in managing and evolving IT infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a technical, project-driven environment, with the ability to lead initiatives and support a team of junior engineers. About the Role: Reporting to the Managing Director, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer will work remotely (with occasional visits to the company’s physical data centre) and play a critical role in delivering key infrastructure projects. The role requires a professional who can organize and delegate tasks effectively, assess and implement new solutions, and ensure the seamless operation of the infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: Leading and executing infrastructure projects, such as upgrading the company’s mobile solution and Docker infrastructure. Breaking down complex tasks and assigning responsibilities to junior engineers. Assessing and implementing new solutions, including cost-benefit analysis and execution planning. Maintaining and enhancing failover clustering and ensuring infrastructure resilience. Providing hands-on support with Docker, VMware, Cisco, Azure AD, and microservices environments. Occasionally working onsite at the company’s data centre for critical tasks. Required Skills & Experience: Strong practical experience with Docker, VMware, Cisco, Azure AD, and microservices. Proven ability to lead projects and organize work for junior engineers. Hands-on experience working in a physical data centre. Familiarity with failover clustering and high-availability systems. Management experience is advantageous but not essential, as this is primarily a technical role. Excellent problem-solving abilities and a practical, results-driven approach.
