Digital Production Trainee

We are a fast growing and innovative POS design and manufacturing company, working with some of the world’s biggest retailers and brands. Our home is in a large industrial premises in Redditch, but within our walls we have created a vibrant, creative, and relaxed working environment for our team. Although we were only founded in 2021, we are thriving with a multitude of exciting projects and are looking to add to our team to support with this increase in work.
Standard requirements and attributes
Full training and support will be given to develop the right person from a trainee to a full production operative.
We are looking for someone who is a good communicator, with strong numeracy and literacy skills, has the ability to problem solve and is flexible and friendly.
The candidate must be able to work both independently and in a team environment and will relish the opportunity to work in all production areas including printing, cutting, finishing, and packing.
The Role
The role will require you to support the Production Team in all areas, as directed by the Production Manager and/or other members of the team ensuring that tidiness, health and safety is prioritised at all times.
You will use supplied Job Cards/Briefs to understand the production requirements and outputs, identify the correct materials and move around the factory accordingly, and ensure the right equipment is used for completion of the job in the following areas: -
Cutting
When working on the cutting table you are responsible for cutting and creasing of printed materials of jobs.
This includes, but is not limited to,
- Setting up the table as required and once the first off is checked and signed off, ensuring that as the job is cut, the outputs are palletised efficiently.
- Maintenance and safe keeping of the cutting table and cutting tools; including daily and weekly machine checks, requesting replacements as necessary.
Printing
When printing our work, you will ensure that best quality is achieved through careful handling of materials and the monitoring of the outputs through the print run.
This includes, but is not limited to,
- Setting up presses and shutting down safely at the end of shift.
- Using job card/brief to set up each project, identify materials, checking artwork is as expected and making sure that correct inks, settings and speeds are used as required.
- Working to schedule of print, ensuring that throughout the production run quality, consistency and registration is monitored.
- Maintenance and safe keeping of the press; including daily and weekly machine checks and the reporting of any issues to Senior Team and EFI website.
Finishing and Packing
Once the items are printed and cut, ensuring that accurate finishing is undertaken before being securely packed to arrive with the customer in the correct quantities.
This includes, but is not limited to,
- Taking briefs from Production Manager and/or Client Services to understand the finishing required to complete items, ensuring that the first of every item is signed off for accuracy and that consistency is maintained.
- Setting up elements in a logical manner to allow for accurate picking and secure packing, to ensure that parcels will safely run through the courier network.
- Matching pick sheets, outer labels and courier labels, aligning these with the right packs to make certain that the right items are being sent to the right locations.
- Monitoring courier collections to ensure that all packs are collected on date required.
- Ensuring that any overs remaining are safely palletised or packed and that all packaging materials used are recorded on the job card, flagging any replenishments required.
