Design Engineer

About the Role:
I'm partnered with an independent company operating in the Rail industry who are looking for a Design Engineer to join their site in Ashby-de-la-Zouch. The role involves writing specifications, producing designs, and supporting site engineers remotely, as well as managing technical interfaces with clients. This position offers great opportunities for skills development, training, and career growth in the Rail sector.
Responsibilities:
1. Design and build engineering solutions to customer specifications, collaborating with team members including Engineers, Design Engineers, CAD Operators, and Documentation assistants.
2. Define and develop scopes of work for design and engineering delivery activities.
3. Monitor progress to confirm value for money and schedule delivery.
4. Support the Project Manager with processing client changes to contracts.
5. Produce GRIP4-5 documentation such as Detailed Designs, Cable Schedules, Schematics, and Bills of Materials.
6. Develop design documentation for sub-systems including Customer Information Displays, Long Line Public Address, Public Help Points, and CCTV Systems.
7. Produce JVSG CCTV Models.
8. Liaise with clients to determine requirements and assist in system development.
9. Review technical specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
10. Provide technical support to the Rail Engineering Delivery Team and Rail Customers.
11. Interface with clients, suppliers, and manufacturers.
12. Assist sales with bid opportunities and presentations.
Skills & Experience:
1. Possess an Engineering Qualification such as HND, HNC, BEng or equivalent, or significant experience in similar roles.
2. Ability to read drawings and interpret designs.
3. Rail industry experience involving CCTV, CIS, LLPA, or PHPs is advantageous but not essential.
4. Proficient in IT Packages such as MS Office, Visio, CAD, etc.
5. Good knowledge of system design, including general arrangements, schematic diagrams, and loop diagrams.
6. Able to produce and process project documentation (e.g., Functional Design Specifications, Test Procedures).
7. Experience in requirements management for the complete project lifecycle.
8. Working knowledge of Quality Assurance.
