Salary: £41,000 up to £47,000 dependent upon experience

The Role
To evaluate, monitor, interpret and approve safety occurrence reports, making further recommendations where necessary, and ensure any action is taken in a timely and adequate manner in order to maintain SARG's awareness and knowledge of safety incidents reported.
* Identify hazards, potential hazards and trends by evaluation and approval of new occurrence reports together with analysis of existing data. Determine when follow-up action is required and initiate, co-ordinate and progress follow-up activity until appropriate action has been taken.
* Ensure that safety information from occurrence reports and other sources is processed, evaluated, distributed, and properly recorded. Provide a competent and comprehensive support and information service.
* Ensure that the UK aviation community is reporting occurrences to the set standard, advising the Manager, Intelligence, of any shortcomings.
* Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects directly associated with flight safety – e.g. aircraft and their systems, aircraft operation and ground support systems, including ATC and facilities.
* Identify and action updates to procedures within own department.
* Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to all team members, sharing knowledge and industry experience.
* Interrogate Eccairs for data retrievals for internal stakeholders and team.
* React to cases of accidents or any other event which may be required for legal reasons and court proceedings.
* Assist with Audits e.g. ICAO and internal.
* Liaisons with external stakeholders; Providing a link to Safety Data is crucial for co-operation, improved reporting and awareness of both CAA and reporters. Providing guidance and assistance to reporters.
* Represent Safety Data at CAA Working Groups and meetings across the CAA.
About You
To be considered for the role you must have:
* Appropriate experience in a relevant industry area (e.g. Aircraft Operations, Engineering or ATC), or equivalent. (Substantial experience with MOR submissions including an understanding of the MOR database recording requirements and knowledge of the MOR analysis purpose requirements.)
* Good understanding of CAP1404, the MOR scheme and Just Culture.
* Confident written and verbal communication skills including tact and diplomacy.
* Able to create and maintain good working relationships at all levels of the organisation and externally.
* Is a self-starter, team player and can demonstrate initiative and proactiveness.
* A flexible and committed individual with the ability to prioritise and multitask in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment.
* Good analytical, problem solving, and decision-making capabilities.
* High level of IT awareness and understanding including experience of MS office.
Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
To be vetted you must have the right to work in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken.
