This Group Director of Operations position is within the Community Group.
This is a challenging, strategic and visible senior leadership role within our organisation, with a focus on delivery of the development and transformation of our physical health community services in Coventry. Working in partnership, each leadership team is collectively responsible for the delivery of the organisational strategy, operational planning and financial performance for their clinical group.
The Group Director of Operations will be responsible for supporting the Clinical Director in the overall management and performance of the clinical group, ensuring compliance with NHS and statutory requirements, national frameworks and be instrumental in the consistent delivery of high quality, cost effective, safe clinical services. Central to this is to support the ongoing engagement of group senior leaders and service managers in the delivery of the integration agenda.

This will include priority setting, annual business plans and the development of capacity and capability to deliver both local and national priorities for community services. A credible and influential leader, you will have extensive experience in a senior management role and will be able to evidence developing and managing services in a complex environment. Your first-class communication and influencing skills will have enabled a successful track record in achieving results through collaborative working, and you will have the ability to motivate and inspire people to deliver the best possible care to all of our patients.
A key component of the role will be working in collaboration with other Group Director colleagues to deliver complex pathway changes and developments as required. Strategic Development
• To lead and identify the key activities for service improvement and business development
• within the speciality group(s) to ensure the delivery of cost effective strategies and the adoption of the lean principles.
• To develop and deliver business opportunities that maintain, support and enhance the delivery of high quality services, identifying new and existing opportunities for income generation.
• To lead service redesign with multidisciplinary teams, clinicians and operational managers to deliver Trust Objectives
• To work with clinical staff in developing appropriate changes in clinical practice within the division in line with Trust objectives.
• To develop effective partnerships with other Community Management teams and Corporate Services teams in order to contribute to strategic and planning deliberations that will develop the corporate strategy and operations of the Trust.
• To develop effective partnerships with clinical staff and an environment within which all staff within the service line have an opportunity to become closely involved in, or have genuine opportunity to influence, the management, planning of, and development of, services within the speciality group.
Financial Responsibilities
• To ensure that the Community management team(s) establishes a strategic direction, which provides a basis for business planning and reflects the priorities of the organisation.
• To involve all clinical and non-clinical teams in the management of budgets, and service line reporting and management to ensure service are cost effective
• To maximise income opportunities throughout the speciality group(s) and ensure business cases are in place to develop and sustain services in line with strategic plans for the trust
• To ensure that assets, for the full range of specialties and department within the service line (building, land and equipment) are utilised efficiently and effectively. Contribute to Trust -wide capital issues, including new developments as appropriate
• To be responsible for the strategic development of business, workforce and service plans in conjunction with other internal and external partners
• To support the introduction of local and national health initiatives to ensure their effective integration into specialties and services.
