Principal EV Calibration Engineer

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Principal EV Calibration Engineer to join one of the biggest automotive companies in the world on their Electric Vehicle (EV) projects. You will lead calibration activities, driving key aspects of performance and efficiency for advanced powertrain systems. With a high degree of autonomy, you'll manage calibration processes, develop new methods, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities as Principal EV Calibration Engineer:
* Lead calibration activities for hybrid and pure electric powertrain systems, ensuring project deliverables are met.
* Conduct hands-on calibration, focusing on balancing performance, energy consumption, NVH, and drivability.
* Develop and implement calibration methods for new powertrain systems, working with control and software engineers.
* Plan and execute testing activities, analysing data to drive system improvements.
* Prepare detailed reports and technical presentations for stakeholders.
* Support powertrain integration and testing at both chassis and rig levels.
Requirements:
* Degree in Mechanical, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum of 8 years of post-graduate experience in powertrain calibration, preferably with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
* Strong expertise in Hybrid powertrain systems, including energy management, transmission control (TCU), and engine control (EMS).
* Proficient with automotive calibration and vector tools (e.g., ETAS INCA/MDA) and (CANape, CANalyzer) familiar with software strategies.
* Flexibility to travel internationally for short periods when required.
* A valid UK work permit is essential.
