Job Summary:
The Manager, Security Services develops and implements measures to provide a safe and secure environment through security and property protection programmes, by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate officers.
Responsibilities:
1. Establishes and implements emergency security procedures taking into account the needs of patients/clients, stakeholders, clinical areas, and other departments.
2. Coordinates activities related to the monitoring and maintaining of emergency procedures for the Authority’s computerized security programme.
3. Reviews emergency security policies and procedures related to the operations of sensitive areas, and develops new policies and procedures as appropriate.
4. Ensures that all security breaches are thoroughly investigated and recommends corrective action. Advises management on the appropriate security systems and procedures to ensure the safety and protection of the organization’s personnel, property, clients, and stakeholders in the development of the Security Management Plan.
5. Prepares budget recommendations for staffing, supplies, and/or equipment that is required to maintain quality patient care.
6. Ensures that human, financial, and technological resources are managed effectively within the team.
7. Plans and alters duty rota including rescheduling staff during periods of absenteeism.
8. Conducts in-house training and induction for staff on the use and maintenance of equipment thus ensuring effective levels of productivity.
9. Adheres to Accreditation Standards, Public Health, Infection Control, Patient’s Charter/Bill of Rights, Occupational Health and Safety, MoH/DHWSP, and TRHA Protocols, Guidelines, Policies and Procedures.
10. Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Laws of Trinidad and Tobago as it relates to national security.
2. Local and international safety codes and practices.
3. Security, administration, policies, and expert systems.
4. Knowledge and experience in utilizing access controls, CCTV systems, and alarm systems.
5. Word processing, spreadsheet, database, and project applications.
6. Ability to read and understand technical manuals and instructions.
7. Communicate orally with user departments’ representatives, manufacturers, and contractors.
8. Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures.
9. Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.
10. Ability to work in elevated locations.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Certified Estate Police Officer.
2. At least ten (10) years of experience as a senior officer in protective services or with a security firm.
3. Computer Literacy (Programming experience will be an asset).
4. Valid driver’s permit.
5. Diploma or Bachelor’s in Management (will be an asset).
Special Requirements:
1. Willing to work overtime, public holidays, and weekends as requested:
o The incumbent is required to perform Emergency On-call duties based on an On-call roster as directed by the Essential Service Industry Standards for a 24-hour Health Care System.
o The incumbent is also required to work in a shift environment covering 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
2. Maintains the confidentiality of patients’ information at all times.
