Cyber Security Apprenticeship
Salary range: £25,000 per annum
Location: Office locations considered - Bristol, Gloucester, Plymouth
Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites, and working from home.

To support the development of our Cyber Security capability, we are looking to recruit a Cyber Security Apprentice to join our technical team. Our Cyber Security capability is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of experts across a broad range of Cyber and Information Security disciplines ranging from Digital Networking, Digital Engineering, Information Assurance, and Threat Intelligence.
We work on a range of interesting projects, across multiple sectors including, but not limited to, energy, defence, space, government, national infrastructure, transport, process, and manufacturing.
Working within a variety of project teams, you will be working alongside colleagues who will assist you with your day-to-day tasks. While you are learning, you will engage in a variety of projects. These will include internal exercises to help you gain a comprehensive understanding of Frazer-Nash, as well as opportunities to work on client projects. You will gain real-world experience working and operating with the Technical Lead or Project Managers alongside highly knowledgeable and skilled peers to deliver solutions against our client's needs and requirements.
You will be assisting in the delivery of technical security work programmes as part of multidisciplinary projects undertaken by our teams. There is also the opportunity to undertake research into a range of cyber-related topics directly for our clients, as well as helping to expand the capability offering that we provide to our clients as the organisation evolves over the coming years. Whilst on the apprenticeship, you will gain additional knowledge from the education provider associated with your apprenticeship, leading to a Level 6 (Honours) Degree in Cyber Security over the duration of the course.
The role requires a basic understanding of cyber security, with a desire to learn and further your career. You will need to demonstrate initiative, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills. We are looking for intelligent and inquisitive people, who can solve complex cyber and digital-related problems and deliver robust solutions for our clients. You will have an interest in furthering your education and starting your career in a cyber-related role.
Things you can expect
* To be provided with an internal mentor, who will assist you day-to-day during your education.
* Working alongside experienced colleagues who will ensure you are included in project work and will be able to assist in answering questions or providing guidance as necessary.
* Working within a multidisciplinary team, working on solutions to fulfil client needs.
* Work towards a BSc (Honours) Degree in Cyber Security, enrolling at a college/university to support your degree pathway. This will depend on location and providers are limited to: University of Gloucestershire; Gloucester College (in association with UWE), University College Weston (in association with UWE); or City College Plymouth (in association with University of Plymouth).
* To gain experience working across a range of sectors and cyber security disciplines, such as Digital Engineering (including AI), Information Assurance, Threat Research, and Digital Networks.
* A well-structured curriculum.
* Year 1 - Covers hardware, operating systems and architecture, networking, programming, and cyber threats
* Year 2 - Covers mathematics and algorithms, malware analysis and reverse engineering, cryptography, operating system security, embedded systems security, and information systems security.
* Year 3 - Covers security assurance, ethical hacking and penetration testing, security case development, cybersecurity professionalism, reflective practice, and a significant project.
* Year 4 & End Point Assessment - Completion of workplace projects and portfolio preparation. End point assessment, which will include Practical Exams and a Technical Professional Interview.
This role will be client-facing, and successful candidates are expected to work in a dynamic fast-paced consultancy environment.
Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertakes, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
