We are seeking to recruit an ambitious and motivated speciality doctor in psychiatry.
This is a rare opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary mental health team in Tower Hamlets. The Home Treatment Team (HTT) provides assessment, treatment and care for residents in Tower Hamlets experiencing a mental health crisis as an alternative to admission. The post holder will have regular supervision from one of the HTT consultant psychiatrists and benefit from joining a collegiate and active group of specialty doctors in the borough.
Main duties of the job
Tower Hamlets Home Treatment Team (TH HTT) provides an alternative to acute psychiatric admissions and facilitates early discharges from the ward. The HTT also provides psychiatric treatment to patients in the 10-bed Crisis House, established in 2010 in partnership with the Third sector (Look Ahead). This facility provides another alternative to hospital admission for patients and improves patient choice and quality of care. This is a unique and valuable resource along the crisis pathway.
The post holder is expected to provide contributions as a qualified psychiatrist to the MDT in diagnosis and assessment of psychiatric conditions, management/appropriate referral of co-morbid medical disorders, risk management, and supervision of medication prescribing. This post provides an opportunity to understand the principles of positive risk management and experience in mental health act assessments and, where appropriate, to gain experience in providing clinical leadership. The post holder will work closely with two substantive consultants in the team.
