Location: We have an exciting opportunity for a CCTV Lateral Launch Assistant to join our Customer Field Services department at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. The role will be based at our Blackburn Meadows Wastewater site in South Yorkshire; therefore, applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance from the site.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, on rotational work patterns to cover 24/7 working, which will include late, early and weekend work patterns.

The CCTV Lateral Launch Assistant is a field-based role, working outdoors, in all weathers as part of a two-person team within a geographical team working to improve customer service and sewer performance. Working alongside a CCTV Technician to respond to incidents for customers and the environment whilst ensuring quality follow-on work is raised in accordance with our standards and specifications. Full training will be provided.
Where you fit in:
As our CCTV Lateral Launch Assistant, you will safely proactively and reactively investigate the underground sewerage network, utilising CCTV equipment to promote and implement solutions which resolve and/or prevent a sewage escape from occurring from the wastewater network and to ensure no repeats take place. Working closely with other Yorkshire Water teams and our contracted partners on site to resolve and manage operational issues on the sewer network.
You will be responsible for assisting the Operational CCTV Technician ensuring the safe operation of the CCTV unit in line with YW operation procedures ensuring the correct site set up is in place prior to work commencing ensuring all Health & Safety working practices and procedures are always complied with.
What skills, experience and training you will need:
You will be assisting in the operation of a CCTV vehicle and carrying out a range of manual handling duties including heavy lifting of manhole covers and operating heavy equipment, therefore, it is essential that you have a practical mindset, enjoy working outdoors in all weathers and be comfortable taking a hands-on approach to work tasks.
You will have a strong Health & Safety mind-set and have a basic understanding of IT systems.
It would be advantageous to have some experience within wastewater, but not essential as full training will be provided.
You will be liaising with operational teams, customers, and stakeholders in the role, therefore, team working, and communication is essential.
A full valid driving licence is a requirement of this role (with no more than 6 points).
Previous experience in customer service with face-to-face communication with customers is desirable.
