CK Group are recruiting for a Technical Service Manager to join a global chemical manufacturing company at their facilities located in Durham on a permanent basis. This role will be fully on-site.

Our client is a leading chemical manufacturer, specialising in producing thermoplastic products and exporting them globally.

This Technical Service Lead position is located in Durham, UK.
The Role:
Reporting to the Technical Manager you will be responsible for managing customer relationships, providing expert technical support, and driving the continuous improvement of clients PVC compounds to meet and exceed customer expectations. This role requires an understanding of plastics compounding (preferably relating to PVC), extensive experience in technical service management, and a proven ability to drive customer satisfaction and product innovation across a diverse range of applications.
You will additionally be responsible for:
* Leading a team of experienced professionals (technical service technologists, regulatory), providing guidance, support, and training.
* Customer support: Collaborating with customers, understanding their needs and challenges and developing solutions to enhance product performance and application outcomes.
* Acting as the primary technical liaison and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
* Collaborate with the Quality team and support the resolution of quality issues
* Product development and innovation: provide customer insights informing new product development and existing product optimisation
* Lead discussions with customers during the development phase ensuring new PVC compounds meet end-use application requirements.
Your Background:
* Degree qualified in Polymer Science, chemical engineering, Material Science or related field; advanced degree preferred.
* Highly experienced within a compounding industry (preferably PVC), with a strong focus on technical service and customer support
* Proven track record of managing and developing technical teams.
* In-depth knowledge of compounding processes, formulations, and applications.
* Extensive experience working with a wide range of end-use applications for plastics compounds, such as construction, automotive, medical, and consumer goods.
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable to PVC compounding manufacturing (beneficial).
