The NIHR Clinical Research Facility Manager role is based at the Cambridge Clinical Research Centre (CCRC) which houses NIHR and MRC/Wellcome funded Clinical Research Facilities, located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus the largest biomedical research campus in Europe, home to two NHS flagship Trusts, multiple world-class research Institutes, the University School of Clinical Medicine and a thriving biopharma ecosystem.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will work in collaboration with members of our Senior Leadership Team (Clinical Directors, Deputy Director of Operations, Matrons) to deliver our program of work.
You will directly lead our operational clinical delivery teams via our Matrons, our Trial Coordination Team and our Administration Team. You will oversee academic and commercial trials of new medicines and devices in adults and children across a wide range of disease specialties from first-in-human through to late phase from study application through to delivery in patients. You will deputize for the Deputy Director of Operations.
You will be a compassionate, inclusive and visible leader and will utilize your clinical experience and expertise to contribute to the development of new facilities and services. You will inspire confidence and support our work functions to enable the CCRC to deliver our strategic objectives; delivering world leading experimental medicine research to improve patient care, supporting our staff, and building for the future.
You will have well-developed communication, leadership and problem-solving capabilities and an understanding of the UK Health Research and Life Sciences agendas. You will build excellent working relationships with campus based clinical research leads, investigators, R&D and with relevant regional and national research networks.
Main duties include:
The post holder will be responsible for the operational leadership, governance and management of all CCRC clinical and administration delivery staff.
The post holder will be responsible for managing all clinical research studies conducted within the CRC (and outreach), ensuring that studies are run to the highest standards incorporating Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, local and host Trust policy and procedures, ensuring the highest standard of participant care across all CCRC facilities.
The post holder will be the lead nurse responsible for clinical studies and in this role will liaise with clinical investigators and senior CCRC nurses to implement protocols within the clinical setting.
The post holder will contribute to the delivery of the Trust research agenda providing senior nursing leadership where required including CCRC representation at research related forums.
The post holder will deputise for the CCRC Deputy Director of Operations and will provide research leadership to staff working in CCRC facilities and users of CCRC facilities.
