Care Micro-Enterprise Development Officer
Care Micro-Enterprise Development Officers (CMEDOs) are part of the Care Together Team in Adult Social Care Commissioning.
We support those interested in becoming sole traders in the care sector to set up compliant care micro-enterprises offering more choice and control to service users.
We provide free information and advice for individuals interested in becoming self-employed care workers in their community or in setting-up a micro-provider with no more than 8 staff to serve a small geographical area.
Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
What will you be doing?
You will be identifying leads by attending third-party events in the community and engaging with interested parties online (e.g. via Social Media and Virtual Meetings). You will then guide candidates along a path of learning and preparation to go live, offering care and support to communities across Fenland. This will include guidance on best practice, signposting to external training sources and marketing services and providing links to a network of other care micro-enterprises in the local areas.
About you
You will be educated to A level standard with a good working knowledge of business management, partnership working or a training/coaching role. You will need to demonstrate commercial awareness through previous Sales or Marketing responsibilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
It is desirable, but not essential that you have an understanding of the Care Sector/Social Care and knowledge of communities in the Fenland area, but you will need to be someone organised, used to planning their own time and working to deadlines with both availability and autonomy to work in the field several days a week.
