We are looking for a Clinical Fellow in Palliative Care whose primary focus will be to provide specialist palliative medical input to the In-Patient Services. This is a Fixed Term Position. We have a 26 bedded in-patient unit and we also offer a Community Service including Hospice at Home Service and offer a 24/7 advice line. We are a training unit for specialty trainees in palliative medicine, IMT trainees, as well as undergraduates from Keele Medical School.
The post is suitable for those who have completed foundation programme and postgraduate qualification e.g. MRCP, MRCGP or equivalent is preferable. Prior experience in Palliative Care is desirable, but not essential. However, experience in medicine for the elderly or general medicine will also be considered as relevant to the post. You need to be fully registered with the GMC. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, compassion, and an ability to work in respectful partnership with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
You will be joining a small team of Specialty Doctors and ANPs, working as part of the multi-disciplinary team. You will deliver high quality professional care to the patients and relatives in the Hospice. You will work closely with the whole clinical team to ensure that we offer the highest standards of care and develop our services to meet the changing needs of our patients. Senior support is provided by the Medical Director and experienced specialty doctors in Palliative Care.
The post offers the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of initiatives such as teaching, research, and audit. There are ample opportunities to develop your interest in the specialty through regular medical educational sessions and teaching ward rounds.
The job plan can be discussed and you will also have 1 SPA per week (WTE).

Hours: 25-30 hrs (full time hours will be considered)
On call: 1:6 non-resident first on call weeknights & resident on call 9-5 pm at weekends
Fixed term contract for 12 months.
Salary from: £33,500- 40,000 (£50,000 (WTE) depending on skills, experience & knowledge (+ weekend on call supplement)
