37-hour flexible working week
We have an exciting opportunity for a Chemical Process Engineer within the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business, working within the Nuclear Facilities Design Team to deliver the regeneration of the Raynesway Nuclear Licenced Site.
For you, this means opportunities to shape the future of the Submarines business, through the design, commissioning and life-extension of critical nuclear facilities required to manufacture our key products. Given the complexity of the projects you’d be responsible for, this is a fantastic opportunity to work across multiple disciplines to understand the full design and through-life requirements of our unique facilities.
Why Rolls-Royce?
Our Submarines Business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. We support the Royal Navy as the Technical Authority for all UK Naval Reactor Submarine Plants, and we're continuing to build our nuclear sector capability to support the development of a new nuclear plant for future submarines.
We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority.
Join us and we’ll provide an environment where you can be yourself. An inclusive, digital-first culture that invests in you, gives you a platform for continuous learning, and access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career.
We are looking for an engineer to join our team and be responsible for the successful delivery of nuclear facility technical design and substantiation projects. You will be working across multiple disciplines and facility lifecycle stages to ensure that the areas under your responsibility meet both our engineering and project requirements. You will need to be able to interact with numerous stakeholders both internal and external to the business to be successful.
Although experience of working with nuclear facilities is certainly advantageous, we invite applications from those that are interested in redeploying their existing capabilities in a new area. What is most important is having the right approach; you need to be someone who gathers all the required expertise and stakeholders together and can understand and organise a variety of technical information to deliver the right solution at the right time.
We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.
Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What you will be doing:
* Creation and through-life substantiation of technical requirements for our nuclear facilities.
* Ensuring that the engineering solutions meet all project and technical (inc. safety & regulatory) requirements, including acting as an intelligent customer for activities carried out by suppliers.
* Involvement in all design stages from identification of stakeholder requirements, optioneering, concept, scheme, front end, and detailed design, design substantiation and verification and validation, and installation, commissioning and operating documents.
* Use of a wide range of standard techniques to such as HAZOP, FMEA, SIL, LOPA, etc. to support arguments.
Who we’re looking for:
* Degree qualified in Chemical Process Engineering discipline
* Proven background in facility design and system engineering.
* Demonstrable background of capital project delivery in a regulated environment.
* Experience of commissioning and installation of chemical process plants is desirable
* Experience of handing a project over into operations and background in troubleshooting is desirable
We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives.
And the more perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.
To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality.
