Senior Radiographer - Mammographer

This is a fabulous opportunity for a Senior Radiographer with Mammography experience to take the next step in your career.
The service includes the Screening & Symptomatic Service based at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, with three mobile vans covering the South Essex area. We screen around 25,000 women per year.
We run three recently refurbished Mammography rooms with tomosynthesis capacity and 2 Ultrasound rooms, with dedicated waiting areas for screening and symptomatic services.
This is an exciting time to join the team as we introduce Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography, alongside our current research audits and training programs.
We support ongoing leadership development and developing advanced practitioners, having managed to recruit several graduates to support their ongoing career development.

Main duties of the job
* To provide the full mammographic service for the symptomatic service.
* To provide information to the clients attending screening.
* To recognise when there is a need to call for professional help (breakdowns etc.).
* To be the Supervising Radiographer for Assistant Practitioner staff members.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Unit undertakes Screening and Symptomatic clinics, and continues to support staff development and training opportunities. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to travel to mobile sites across South Essex.
* To attend the departmental staff and audit meetings.
* To be able to rapidly assess patient personality type and respond accordingly to elicit relevant clinical history within time allowed, while also explaining the procedure, gaining consent, informing and advising the patient.
* To provide information for clients attending the service in both verbal and leaflet form.
* To provide information and support to other groups attending the Breast Unit for training i.e. (student midwives, nurses and medical students on rotation).
Person specification
Qualifications & Knowledge
* B.Sc. in Radiography or D.C.R. or equivalent
* 12 months clinical radiography experience
* Current HCPC registration
* Knowledge of current IR(ME)R guidance
* Post graduate award in mammographic studies (formerly the Certificate of Competence in Mammography).
Experience
* Current participation in PACS and QA processes within the department
* Previous Experience working in Breast Screening

* Evidence of leading a team

* IT Literate
