Job Title: Senior Residential Support Worker - Weekend Location: Sutton Hours: Saturday and Sunday 8am to 8.30pm Salary: £18,295 per annum Contract: Permanent Main Activities/Responsibilities Ensuring a firm, caring, consistent, well-ordered environment is maintained at all times. Supervising young people including mealtimes and to proactively support/encourage the development of their cooking and household skills etc. To actively promote and participate in care planning, developing risk assessments, behaviour management and to attend regular team meetings. Accompanying children and young people on recreational activities and demonstrating positive role modelling. Working as part of a team to provide a programme of evening, weekend and school holiday activities for children and young people and to effectively manage small budgets, in relation to this. Promoting the social and emotional well-being and development of children and young people and to consistently strive to further develop these skills. Liaising with other staff, professionals, parents and carers as necessary and maintaining high levels of professionalism at all times. To attend home visits and to provide a specialist outreach service to young people, family and carers, as and when required. Undertaking any administrative tasks linked to the care of children and young people e.g. keeping appropriate records, making reports as required by the home and any regulatory bodies. To maintain a log of all accidents, incidents or physical intervention and to challenge suspected inappropriate practice according to policies and procedures. To participate in case reviews where necessary and to provide support and assistance when difficulties arise. Keeping up to date with the home's policies, young people's risk assessment and care plans; and to follow them at all times. To assist in developing strategies in behaviour management and to take a lead role in managing the young person's challenging behaviour, implementing the strategies agreed. Assisting with the medical and physical needs of children and young people and to ensure that all young people are encouraged to take part at some level, no matter what the ability. Promoting of young people reaching their own targets and developmental plans. Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people that the jobholder is responsible for, or comes into contact with and to regularly stay updated in relation to any changes within safeguarding legislation and policy. Ensuring healthcare needs of the children and young people are met, including making appointments and accompanying them and completing written reports following their attendance. To ensure all medical and clinical procedures are carried out safely (undergoing any relevant training to enhance your skills). To report immediately to management any noticeable significant changes in health, behaviour or circumstances of our children and young people - maintaining their right to privacy and confidentiality. Plus overseeing the wellbeing of all the others. Work with children in a group and individually to contribute to their personal development, allowing them to thrive and achieve. Promote wellbeing, education, learning, life skills and health. Work towards a plan for independent living, involving budgeting, cooking, cleaning and personal care. To provide an individualised 24 hour programme for the child, providing a safe and comfortable environment. Promoting their interests, engaging with them in these and broadening their achievements. Protecting them from harm and keeping on top of risk assessments related to that child. To develop an understanding of the needs of both your assigned child and others. Coming up with ideas of how to improve their quality of life, the home and service. Shift leading, and supervising residential care workers. Supervision training will be provided. Shift leading will involve being responsible for all decision making on that shift, liaising with third parties, organising the shift plan, young people and other staff. Making sure everything runs smoothly and communication lines are properly managed during the shift and the shifts either side. Utilising the on call manager when required. This will involve managing shift check ins, handovers and ensuring all documents, reports, logs are done in a timely manner to a high standard.
