Job Description
Progress Teachers are seeking an experienced and dedicated Behaviour for Learning Mentor to support pupils with challenging behaviours to overcome a range of barriers to education and make positive progress within a mainstream secondary school.\n\nYour role will include:\n\nBehavioural Support:\n\n * Assisting with the School's on-call system, acting quickly and decisively to de-escalate and re-direct negative behaviours around the school.\n\n * Implementing effective behaviour management strategies to foster positive student behaviour.\n\n * Providing one-on-one or small-group interventions to address behavioural challenges.\n\n * Collaborating with teachers and support staff to develop and implement behaviour support plans.\n\nAcademic Support:\n\n * Assisting students with academic tasks and offering additional support as needed.\n\n * Working closely with teachers to adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual student needs.\n\n * Monitoring and recording student progress, collaborating with the teaching team to address learning gaps.\n\nEmotional Support:\n\n * Building positive relationships with students to promote emotional well-being.\n\n * Providing a safe and nurturing environment for students to express themselves in.\n\n * Recognising and responding to the social and emotional needs of students.\n\nSafeguarding:\n\n * Liaising with pastoral and safeguarding teams to address bullying concerns or negative behaviours.\n\n * Logging all safeguarding concerns accurately and securely for reporting and actioning.\n\n * Collaborating with outside agencies such as the police, local authorities, and care teams when necessary.\n\nQualifications & Requirements:\n\n * Prior experience preferred but open to individuals with transferable skills from roles such as Youth Work, Family Support Worker, and Children’s Residential Support Worker.\n\n * Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).\n\n * Understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.\n\n * Strong communication and interpersonal skills.\n\n * Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and support staff.\n\n * Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting academic and emotional development.\n\nWhy Apply with Progress Teachers?\n\n * Long-term & Permanent Focus: Specializing in stability and career growth opportunities.\n\n * Competitive Salary: Pay to Scale rates from day one through PAYE.\n\n * 5 Star Reviewed Company: Positive experiences shared on Google reviews.\n\n * Experienced Consultants: A collective 25 years’ experience in local education markets.\n\n * £100 BONUS: Through our refer-a-friend scheme (no obligation to be working through us)
