About the role
Ramboll has ambitious growth plans in the UK, and its thriving UK HQ in London is central to these growth plans. Ramboll aspires to grow their UK Building Services team by 30% over the next few years. Further strengthening and growing our senior project leadership and work-winning capability in London is central to those plans.
Ramboll’s strategy to be the ‘Partner for Sustainable Change’ is fundamental to our continued evolution. As our new Director, you will possess extensive knowledge of sustainability targets, carbon management, regenerative design, and low/NZC building design. These skills will allow implementation of the strategy both within Ramboll and, more importantly, to our clients.
Ramboll is commissioned to design extraordinary, exciting, iconic projects. Our new Director will have the experience and skills to deliver these projects with technical excellence to our client’s satisfaction while ensuring they are commercially profitable. Proven experience of successful project delivery of both building services projects and multidisciplinary projects is crucial.
Main Role Responsibilities
1. To further raise the profile and reputation of Ramboll’s building services offering in London, the UK, and internationally. Candidates will be expected to market our offering extensively via networking, business-to-business meetings, seminars, thought leadership, and general business development.
2. To support and develop the established team of Building Services Engineers.
3. To implement our strategy - The ‘Partner for Sustainable Change’.
4. To contribute to develop and promote Ramboll’s multi-discipline capability in the local market.
5. To win and deliver projects profitably and to the satisfaction of our clients, taking on full technical and commercial project leadership responsibilities internally.
6. Excellent project management skills and a proven track record of successful project delivery.
7. Technical excellence. The successful candidate will have proven excellent engineering skills and abilities and is expected to demonstrate a full appreciation and delivery of low energy, sustainable building services design. Technical ability is essential. Ramboll is commissioned on technically challenging projects, and digital innovation is one of our core values.
8. To be responsible for the financial performance of the Building Services team.
9. To attract talented recruits to grow a skilled, diverse, efficient, and highly regarded Building Services team.
10. Liaise and interact with other UK Building Services teams to optimise workload and capacity.

1. Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and Chartered Engineer, having a proven and demonstrable track record in your discipline.
2. In-depth knowledge of the Manchester market.
3. Previous experience with leading and delivering major projects.
4. Forward-thinking and enthusiastic about digital design innovation and ‘smart design’ in an increasingly digitalized construction arena.
5. A notable/growing profile and reputation as a highly regarded and trusted Building Services leader.
6. Solid client-facing skills, experienced at presenting to clients, preparing and negotiating proposals, and procuring project resources.
7. Proven ability to win business for the company. Understands the marketplace, the growth sectors, and busy clients. Have knowledge of pipeline opportunities and the ability to support Ramboll to win.
8. Aware of the importance of the strategic and focused business development required by the team and be able to demonstrate an aptitude to undertake leadership in this role.
9. Be comfortable in communicating our Business Plan, Mission, and key priorities.
10. Ability to motivate and develop multidisciplinary professional teams.
11. Demonstration of aptitude for team leadership and ambition for senior leadership career progression.
12. Effective English oral and written communication skills.
