Who are we?
The Development Operations team sits at the centre of CAMFED’s global operations, working closely across Fundraising, Finance, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning and Programmes teams internationally to coordinate and communicate the effective delivery of our work to our partners. We also lead the development of funding proposals, particularly to government funders, directly raising funds in support of CAMFED’s mission.

As an Officer within the Development Operations team, you will actively contribute towards the implementation of CAMFED’s ambitious strategy, working alongside colleagues globally to ensure we are able to effectively meet our commitments to our donors and bring in new funding. What’s the role?
This role is central to CAMFED’s ability to effectively steward relationships with our funding partners and bring in new funding in support of CAMFED’s mission. You will help ensure compliance with donor contracts by reviewing and reporting on funded activity, as well as maintaining and disseminating information about CAMFED’s programme to support wider knowledge share in the organisation.
The role will be varied, collaborative, and deadline-driven, and enable a detailed understanding of CAMFED’s programmes. It will suit someone resourceful, curious, adaptable and organised, who enjoys writing and synthesising information, as well as close analytical work and collaborative problem-solving.
In this role, you will:
* Lead the regular review of managed grants, working in partnership with CAMFED’s Africa offices to ensure contract compliance and optimal use of restricted funds, to support work planning and to check that progress and budget management is on track.
* Lead the preparation of donor reports, progress updates, and other relevant communications to support CAMFED’s relationship with funding partners. This could include coordinating input from colleagues internationally/across functions, and drafting report documentation as appropriate, particularly narrative reports, as well as responses to donor queries.
* Support the preparation of proposals to funding partners, including through researching and fact-checking information, coordinating input from colleagues internationally/across functions, and drafting proposal sections or other documentation as appropriate.
* Maintain programme, operational and grant records and reference materials to facilitate knowledge management, business continuity and compliance.
* Act as a ‘country lead’ focal point within the team and the wider organisation, sharing clear and relevant information about that country and CAMFED’s programme within it.
* The role may entail international travel, including to CAMFED’s partner countries in Africa.
* Other duties as required.
Skills and Qualities for the Role
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to flex style according to the audience - experience of writing specifically for funders would be beneficial.
* Comfort with sifting through, processing and synthesising large amounts of data, including written source material and financial information.
* An excellent eye for detail, and an ability to spot patterns and inconsistencies.
* Strong project management skills, and the ability to engage others around a common goal.
* Ability to progress multiple workstreams, prioritise effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
* Experience of working in a collaborative team environment - experience of working in an international team and across different time zones and cultures would be beneficial, particularly with CAMFED’s countries of operation.
