What you’ll need:
1. The post holder will be qualified and HCPC registered.
2. Have at least 2 years supervised experience post registration with a relevant Specialist Portfolio (Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology (and Transfusion) or Immunology).
3. Must be able to apply the latest scientific knowledge coupled with the most up to date scientific methods.
4. Must be able to accurately and safely use and carry out routine maintenance and performance checks on complex and expensive analysers.
5. Will work as a valued member of a team able to function with minimum supervision deputising for senior staff as appropriate.
6. Will take responsibility for designated areas according to their specialist knowledge and requirements of the Department.
As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Clinical Biochemistry, your key responsibilities will include:
* Conducting precise laboratory analyses to support accurate diagnosis and patient care.
* Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting advanced laboratory equipment like the Alinity Abbott analyser.
* Managing quality assurance processes, including QC and EQA, to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
* Authorising and interpreting laboratory results, escalating significant findings as needed.
* Mentoring and supervising junior staff, fostering professional development within the team.
* Participating in research, development, and continuous improvement of laboratory techniques.
* Ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols, maintaining a safe working environment.
