The Role As a CNC Setter & Operator (Mills), you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components. You will ensure quality standards are met while maintaining efficiency and adhering to company procedures. Key Duties • Set and operate CNC milling machines to produce components to required tolerances. • Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications. • Adjust machine settings, tooling, and offsets to optimize production. • Monitor machining processes and inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality. • Maintain and organise tooling, ensuring everything is in good working order. • Report any production issues, tooling wear, or drawing discrepancies to the supervisor. • Ensure targets are met or improved upon where set by management. • Maintain compliance with company health and safety regulations. • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving within the workshop. • Attend training sessions as required to enhance skills and knowledge. The Candidate Apprentice trained or time-served engineer with NVQ / HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline. Previous experience in CNC machining, ideally within a precision engineering environment. Skilled in setting and operating FANUC, HAAS, Heidenhain, or Mazatrol controlled CNC mills. Ability to work from engineering drawings and meet tight tolerances. Knowledge of cutting speeds, feeds, and tooling selection for various materials. Experience with programming (desirable but not essential – training can be provided). Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
