This full-time position includes both practical experience and academic learning, with a day release at Norfolk Adult Education (The Forum Norwich). The successful candidate will work towards achieving their AAT Level 2 qualification, with opportunities to advance to Levels 3 and 4. The course is set to commence in September 2025.
Job Purpose
To support the accounts team in providing an efficient service to our fee earning departments. Including but not limited to, receipt posting, payment management, billing, ledger management, bank reconciliations, purchase ledger management, assistance and support.
Apprentice Development
As an apprentice you will be provided with the help and support to undertake your AAT studies. It is expected that you will keep on top of your studies and develop your skillset throughout the duration of your apprenticeship. You will learn to undertake a full range of core financial processes.
Key Accountabilities
1. Assist the accounts team under direction and via regular tasks in maintaining accurate and timely records.
2. Provide assistance under guidance within the accounts team to ensure cross-cover in all areas of work.
3. Maintain a pro-active, positive and professional approach within a team environment to meet expected service levels.
4. Assist the finance director or any appropriate line manager with financial data as and when required and directed.
5. Liaise with staff from fee earning teams to assist with queries as required.
Key Challenges
1. Manage own workload effectively which will include a variety of tasks within deadlines that need to be met, under direct supervision but increasingly building independence.
2. Use a combination of good communication, numeracy skills and attention to detail to assist with accounts queries across the firm.
3. Apply good attention to detail and organising skills to ensure all financial information produced is accurate and completed within requirement timescales, within set procedures and checking protocols.
Person Specification
1. Educated to GCSE English and Maths Level C/4 or equivalent.
2. Willingness to study for AAT and can demonstrate an interest in and commitment to a career in finance.
3. Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office packages.
4. Good mathematical skills.
5. Ability to work efficiently within a team or independently.
6. Good attention to detail, particularly with numerical data.
7. A willingness to work flexibly and to learn new skills, including learning from mistakes and proactively making improvements to performance accordingly.
