The Clinical Support Worker in Acute Care plays a key role in assisting registered nurses and other healthcare professionals in providing high-quality care to patients, within the scope of their training, competence, and experience.
You will help maintain a safe and efficient care environment, while also taking on housekeeping, clerical, ancillary, and portering duties as needed to support patient care.
Although you will encounter varying levels of patient care needs, you will be fully supported and trained to develop the required competencies for your clinical role.
As a Clinical Support Worker, you may be assigned to work in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), Short Stay Unit, or Ambulatory Care Unit, all of which cater to patients in emergency situations or those requiring acute medical interventions. This provides you with the opportunity to gain experience in a range of acute care settings while receiving tailored support and development through a personalised training plan.
You will also be assigned a Professional Development Registered Nurse, who will oversee your education and ensure it aligns with the patient care responsibilities specific to your assigned area, fostering your growth and competence in acute care.

Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading.
