A Class 3 Building Control Inspector is required immediately to join a local authority in the West Midlands.
The role is home based with occasional site visits, working 2 or 3 days a week.
Class 3 Building Control Inspector duties:
Assess dangerous structures and implement immediate remedial works
Provide supervision and management of the works of others, within the Building Control sections management framework
Manage a portfolio of development sites, including high-risk building schemes (new applications, regularisations and reversion applications) and maintain proper records
Work with the Building Safety Regulator to fulfil their legal duties, assisting in the regulation of higher-risk buildings and higher-risk building work, within a multi-disciplinary team setting.
Investigate matters, including complaints from elected members and the public, the control of demolition, dangerous structures, contraventions and unauthorised works and initiate and undertake enforcement action, as necessary, including the issuing of notices.
To succeed in the Class 3 Building Control Inspector, you need:
Have Class 2A - 3H Registered Building Inspector status through the Building Safety Regulator.
Educated to degree level in a relevant subject such as Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, Structural Engineering and/or be able to demonstrate learning at an equivalent level.
Authorised by the Building Safety Regulator to act as a Class 3 Registered Building Inspector with proven skills and competency to work without supervision on all Classes of buildings.
Desirable - Member of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CABE, CIOB or equivalent with relevant Building Control bias and evidence of achieving CPD requirement.
