Who we are:
Forensic Psychology Consultancy UK Ltd (FPC) is an independent practice consisting of qualified psychologists, trainees, and assistants. We operate mainly in Wales and the Midlands, delivering contracts for psychological services in prisons and community settings.
We use psychological knowledge to help the people we work with and other professionals to understand risk, need and wellbeing. This means looking beyond the behaviour and bringing the person into focus. We believe in reducing reoffending through fair treatment and justice. We strive to improve the experience of people within criminal, health, and social care settings.
While risk assessment and management are paramount to our role, they do not have to be negative or punitive. We aim to make risk assessment and management an engaging and positive experience. We are spreading this message and approach to various services throughout the UK through training and consultancy projects.
The role:
We are seeking to find a Forensic Psychologist in Training to support the delivery of psychological services within HMP Rye Hill but also to assist us in more comprehensive projects and initiatives where required.
The successful candidate will:

* Have demonstrable experience of working with people in relevant forensic and/or clinical settings (hospital, custody, or community services).
* Have a passion for psychology and working towards registration as a Forensic Psychologist.

* Conduct Psychological Assessments of Risk for the Parole Board and internal risk management boards.
* Treatment Management of Offender Behaviour Programmes.
* Prepare and deliver training to other practitioners within the company and to our external partners.

* Provide advice and consultancy to internal prison risk and support management boards.
* Conduct individual and group therapeutic interventions under supervision including Offender Behaviour Programmes.
* Partake in clinical supervision with Registered Forensic Psychologists.

Hours: 32 FTE. FPC are excited to be a four-day working week company (Monday – Thursday). We hope this will make a positive difference to staff well-being and productivity. As part of the 4-day working week we pay 100% of the full-time equivalent salary for 80% working hours. The successful applicant would benefit from this working arrangement.
Who are we looking for?
Finding trainees who share our values and approach is paramount to us.
We are a forward-thinking company passionate about improving access to psychological services. We are, therefore, looking for trainees who are innovative, reflective, and consistently looking for ways to develop their skills and the service provision.
A large proportion of the work will take place in a prison, so experience of working within a custodial setting is advantageous but not essential.
Communication is vital to the role. The ideal candidate will be comfortable writing formal reports but equally confident visiting a service for the first time and building relationships with staff.
The successful candidate will have a full driving licence and access to their own transport.
The benefits:
* In addition to the usual pay and remuneration, we provide some important benefits to our employees.
* 8 days paid study leave per year when enrolled on to Stage 2.
* We offer life assurance and access to an employee assistance programme.
* We will provide you with a company phone and laptop.
* Trainees are expected to fund their desired training route, but fees will be subsidised.
* You will receive the necessary breadth of experience to fulfil all aspects of your training towards registration.
