Napthens LLP is a dynamic law firm with a turnover of approximately £20 million, a team of around 300 professionals, and six offices across the region. We are committed to delivering exceptional legal services and are looking for a strategic and experienced Finance Director to join our leadership team.
You will lead the financial strategy, management, and planning of the firm, ensuring its financial health, sustainability, and compliance with UK legal standards.
This role demands a strategic thinker with experience in law firm financial management, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency to support our long-term business goals.
Your remit will be wide ranging and include financial strategy & leadership, financial planning & analysis, compliance & risk management, cash flow & financial control, people management and technology & systems.
Key Skills & Competencies
* Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate financial insights clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
* Excellent leadership and management skills, with a record of building and leading high-performing teams.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with lawyers, partners, and external stakeholders.
* Expertise in financial modelling, forecasting, and risk management within a legal or professional services environment.
* Advanced knowledge of UK financial regulations, tax law, and the SRA Accounts Rules.
* Strong IT skills, including Excel and legal practice management software.
Qualifications & Experience
* ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent qualified accountant.
* Significant years of post-qualification experience, with time spent in a senior finance role.
* Experience working in a legal firm or professional services environment is essential.
* Strong understanding of the financial challenges and requirements of law firms (e.g., managing client accounts, WIP, billing cycles).
* Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and business partnering with senior stakeholders.
* Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate finance activities is desirable.
