The Role:
We are looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our technical team in Thirsk North Yorkshire. This is a permanent position working 48 hours per week, Monday - Thursday (06:00 - 16:00) and Friday (06:00 - 14:00).
Key Accountabilities:
1. Conduct production line and operator compliance audits
2. Conduct area and paperwork compliance checks, escalating any issues or trends identified
3. Management and investigation of non-conforming materials and products (hold / quarantine process)
4. Conduct composition checks on blended kibble finished products to ensure compliance to specification
5. Daily calibration of water activity equipment
6. Management of retained sample storage
7. Carry out NIR analysis on defined raw materials and finished product samples
8. Ensure that a safe working environment exists for all colleagues and that as a minimum the department meets the standards set out in the safety, health and environment policy
Additional Accountabilities:
1. Collection and collation of product samples (finished product retained / DEFRA samples)
2. Conduct goods in checks on packaging deliveries, including raising non-conformance report with supplier where applicable
3. Customer complaint investigations
4. Conduct / support traceability exercises
5. Prepare samples for finished product quality panels
6. Conduct refresher training for operational staff (CCP's, average weight control)
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. GCSE or equivalent standard; numerate and literate
2. Basic Computer literate for standard office practices
3. Health and Safety - level Two
4. Food hygiene - level Two
5. CCP training including HACCP principles for Manufacturing
6. Internal Audit Process; Understanding and Experience
7. Allergen Awareness; Understanding of risk
8. GMP; Knowledge of techniques
9. Non-conformance reporting techniques
10. Microbiological awareness - understanding of basic food safety
11. Basic legal labelling practice
12. Basic weight legislation
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly salary of £13.27 (£33,122 per annum)
