Job Description Enjoy the freedom of an Independent Practice About Us: We are an independent, family-run first opinion small animal practice in Sheffield, on the edge of the Peak District. We have a friendly and supportive team consisting of 4 vets, 4 nurses, 1 SVN alongside our reception team. All vets have been with us since the beginning of their career and some even from before that, as work experience students We can call upon an external orthopaedic surgeon who operates on our cases, in-house. As an independent practice, we embrace clinical freedom and encourage our team to pursue areas of interest rather than sales figure driven activities. We offer good clinical, diagnostic and treatment facilities including an in-house Idexx laboratory machine, digital radiography, ultrasonography, capnography and blood pressure monitoring. We also encourage you to work up your own cases but often discuss cases together too. The practice is located within walking distance of the peak district and with excellent public transport links to London and other parts of the UK. You can easily go for a walk in the Rivelin valley, on Stanage edge etc during your lunchbreak. The Role: Like so many practices in the UK, we are looking for a fantastic, fabulous, marvellous vet to join our team However don’t be discouraged if you don’t consider yourself to be all of the above, we’re sure you will fit right in. We are ideally looking for an enthusiastic, experienced vet, competent in all areas of surgery, however we are happy to consider candidates who are still building their skill set. An interest in small furries would be beneficial. We do hear a lot of pitter-pattering of tiny feet This role available is: Preferably this will be a Part-time role – 2-3 days, no out-of-hours (unless you would like to) and one in two/three Saturday mornings sole charge. Our out-of-hours care is covered by an external provider. However, for the right candidate, the role could be made full-time, in which case we will extend opening times in the evening to 7-8 o’clock and on Saturday until 4 in the afternoon. Your work week will be a mix of surgical work in theatre, consults, case work up and client communication. We have 15-minute consults as standard but double time for complicated cases. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9am until 6pm with a dedicated lunch break, and Saturday mornings 9am to 12pm.
