Job Description
Job Purpose:
To oversee and manage the entire logistics process within the company, ensuring smooth operations from production to distribution. This role involves developing and implementing a logistics strategy tailored to the specific needs of the lighting fixture industry, focusing on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. The manager will coordinate all aspects of the logistics cycle, including shipping, inventory management, transportation, and warehousing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop Logistics Strategy: Design and implement the logistics operations, ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives and regulatory standards in the lighting fixtures industry. Optimize end-to-end supply chain processes, from raw material procurement to final product delivery.
* Rep System Management: Establish and manage the logistics operations for representative (rep) systems, ensuring that reps have the necessary tools and inventory to serve clients effectively. Coordinate with sales and distribution teams to optimize rep-based order fulfillment, returns, and stock replenishment.
* Inventory Control: Oversee inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained in warehouses and rep locations. Implement inventory tracking systems to monitor stock levels, orders, deliveries, and storage.
* Transportation & Distribution: Manage all transportation logistics, including inbound and outbound freight. Coordinate with carriers and negotiate contracts to ensure timely and cost-effective shipping solutions.
* Warehousing: Supervise warehousing operations, ensuring safe, secure, and efficient handling of lighting fixtures and components. Develop storage solutions that accommodate the size and fragility of lighting fixtures.
* Supplier & Vendor Relations: Establish strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, and vendors to ensure the timely and reliable flow of materials and products. Collaborate with suppliers to manage shipping schedules and delivery timelines.
* Cost Management: Monitor and manage logistics budgets to reduce operational costs while maintaining service levels. Analyze logistics performance metrics and implement cost-saving measures where applicable.
* Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to logistics, transportation, and warehousing within the lighting industry. Adhere to environmental and safety standards during the transportation and storage of products.
* Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a logistics team, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations. Conduct performance evaluations and train staff in logistics operations and best practices.
Requirements:
* Experience: Proven work experience in logistics management within the manufacturing industry, specifically in lighting fixtures or related sectors (minimum 5-7 years). Experience with rep system logistics and managing third-party distribution networks.
* Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design and optimize logistics processes. Proficiency in logistics software and systems (e.g., SAP, ERP, WMS). Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
* Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD) are advantageous.
