The Role
The purpose of this post is to lead and support continued activity directly relating to NHS Lanarkshire’s implementation of Part 9, Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014, and The Promise Plan.
Working with strategic professional leadership, the post holder will advise, develop, and deliver corporate parenting approaches shaped by health’s primary functions, and informed by the need, views and experiences of care experienced children, young people, families, and adults to improve how the organisation thrives to support best outcomes while fulfilling their statutory roles and responsibilities.
The post holder will:
Continue to develop, implement, monitor and review the NHSL Corporate Parenting Plan to improve outcomes for care experienced children, young people and adults.
Bring lived experience, commitment and dedication to ensure the needs of care experienced children, young people and care leavers remain at the heart of all we do.
Employ a range of engagement and participation skills and activities with care experienced children, young people and care leavers ensuring their voice is heard.
Advocate a leadership culture which is rights based, trauma informed and applies values of care, attachment, and attunement.
Provide support and advice to a range of relevant governance committees and groups, introducing and implementing service changes that impact across NHSL.
Provide support and information to relevant strategic meetings and a range of reports to ensure the delivery of NHSL’s responsibilities in all areas of corporate parenting.
Oversee the production and co-ordination of annual work plans for NHSL’s Promise Group.
Represent NHSL Promise Group on organisational groups and relevant partnership groups, maintaining linkages and ensuring latest guidance/legislative compliance is adhered to across NHSL.
Ensure compliance and provide consultancy/ training on best practice across the organisational workforce on corporate parenting responsibilities and delivery of The Promise.
Plan activities in partnership according to The Promise principles and practice, national and local priorities and needs, and available resources, whilst considering the priorities, practices and resources of partners.

What we'll need you to bring
Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
At least one year’s experience of working in health promotion or a relevant health/health improvement related discipline.
Experience in working in one relevant, specific topic or skill-based area e.g. with young people, mental health, physical activity, nursing, community development, training, research.
Understanding of the health improvement policy agenda.
Project management skills.
Partnership working, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Training, facilitation and group work skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Research and evaluation skills.
Organisational and time-management skills.
IT skills.
Current driving licence.

Care experienced/ lived experience
Demonstrate experience of contribution to inter agency work
Understanding of health inequalities and health improvement policy agenda relating to Corporate Parenting
Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and application of the Independent Care Review: The Promise Scotland
Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and application of Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014, Part 9 (Corporate Parenting); and requirements by NHSL to fulfil statutory duty
Knowledge and application of trauma informed practice and rights based approaches
An understanding of Equality and Diversity principles as they apply to NHS organisations
Influencing skills

The working pattern for this role Mon-Fri; 08:45-17:00 x3; 08:45-16:30 x2.
