About the Role
Are you looking to start the New Year in a new role as part of a friendly team supporting Community Safety, then come join us as a Control Centre Operator. Our team work on a shift rota of 4 on 4 off, days and nights ensuring our operations are covered 24/7, 365 days a year.
Swale Borough Council’s Control Centre operates working 12-hour shift patterns, monitoring our in-house Public Space CCTV, Partnership & Commercial Contracts.
The main role as a Control Centre Operator is to pro-actively monitor, observe and record incidents, and provide information to the Police and relevant authority members as required.
Overseeing the CCTV system in line with Home Office Guidelines, Swale Borough Councils Code of Practice and Operational Procedures. To monitor and operate cameras and associated equipment in accordance with the Code of Practice and operating instructions.
Maintaining detailed surveillance logs, associated systems logs and documentation in accordance with specified procedures. Recording and reporting camera and associated equipment faults and producing evidentially compliant copies of CCTV footage for required organisations.
Maintaining the security of the CCTV Control Centre, ensuring only permitting access to those authorised, and maintaining access logs.
This post is full time working 34 hours per week on a permanent contract, and will require working a rotating shift pattern, including working weekends and Bank Holidays.

About You
A key part of this role will be communicating clearly and concisely, as well as being able to act efficiently and calmly in emergency situations.
Customer focus and results focus, as well as excellent communication skills, are key. Prospective candidates should have experience of operating CCTV, liaising with police and partners, using police radio, and producing evidence for use in criminal prosecutions although full training is provided.
This role works on a rotating shift pattern 4 on 4 off, including nights, weekends and Bank holidays (including Christmas) which is 34hrs a week.
