Our client, an international logistics specialist offering freight forwarding, shipping, and trucking services for commercial and residential shippers, is looking for a Freight Forwarder to join their team and offices within the Colnbrook, Berkshire area.

Main Purpose of the Role:
As a key player in the operations, you’ll collaborate with carriers, customs agents, and clients to ensure seamless movement of goods across borders. Your attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and customer-centric mindset will be crucial. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment and love navigating the intricacies of global supply chains.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Freight Forwarder:
1. Freight Forwarding / Cargo Coordination: Arrange and manage the transportation of goods across various modes (air, sea, road, rail) to ensure timely delivery.
2. Documentation Handling: Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and certificates of origin.
3. Customs Compliance: Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs procedures.
4. Route Optimization: Determine the most efficient and cost-effective shipping routes for each shipment.
5. Communication: Liaise with carriers, suppliers, and clients to provide updates, resolve issues, and address inquiries.
6. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks related to cargo handling, insurance, and transit.
7. Problem-Solving: Address any logistical challenges that arise during transportation, such as delays, rerouting, or damaged goods.
8. Client Relationship: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their specific needs and preferences.
To Be Considered:
1. Must be a car owner as the role requires visits to border force and airline offices.
2. Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or related roles is essential.
3. MUST have knowledge of using CDS.
4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in using transportation management systems (TMS), tracking software, and Microsoft Office.
5. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial for interacting with clients, carriers, and colleagues.
6. Attention to Detail: Freight forwarders must be meticulous in handling documentation and ensuring accuracy.
7. Problem-Solving Abilities: Quick thinking and adaptability are essential when dealing with unexpected challenges.
8. Negotiation Skills: Freight forwarders often negotiate rates with carriers and service providers.
9. Multilingual Skills: Given the global nature of the industry, proficiency in additional languages can be advantageous.
