As a Licensing service, our vision and core role is to protect and improve the health, safety and well-being of people living, working and visiting Mid Devon. We are seeking a motivated and proactive individual to join the team as Specialist Assistant - Licensing. This is a part time position sitting within our licensing function and working pattern can be agreed with the successful candidate.
For the role, you will need relevant experience within a Local Authority or relevant private sector role and be able to demonstrate experience of working with external agencies/responsible authorities.
You will be responsible for the effective administration and inspection of appropriate licensing functions, and be involved in the relevant work activities and programmes within the area including:
• All licences pursuant to the Licensing Act 2003
• All licences pursuant to the Gambling Act 2005 administered by the Licensing Authority
• Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Drivers, Vehicles and Operators
• House to House Collections
• Street Collections
• Street Trading
• Ear Piercing etc.
• Sex Establishments
• Animal Establishments
• Others as appropriate
This is a front facing role that will require you to engage with a wide range of customers and service providers, delivering effective advice and guidance on the whole range of licensing functions. You will also play an integral role in delivering enforcement actions, including the issuing of penalty points and the suspension of licenced vehicles under our Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Vehicle policy.
Computer literacy is essential and a working knowledge of IDOX Uniform and Lalpac Software, is desirable (though training can be provided).
