The LMB has a clear goal of understanding biological processes at the molecular level, with the ultimate aim of using this knowledge to tackle specific problems in human health and disease. We aim to tackle difficult, long-term problems, which often require investment over many years. There are four scientific Divisions - Structural Studies, Protein and Nucleic Acid Chemistry, Cell Biology and Neurobiology. However, scientific collaboration between the different Divisions is extensive. Main duties/ Key responsibilities: • Empty bins & replace liners • Vacuum/sweep floors • Damp mop floors • Polishing • Cleaning sanitary areas • Dusting • Glass cleaning • Waste recycling • Cleaning of toilet areas & kitchenettes • Topping up of hand towel dispensers & soap dispensers • Providing cover for sickness & holiday To ensure that the areas allocated are kept to a very high standard of cleanliness and the scientific and administrative staff are able to work in a clean and safe environment. All waste is to be segregated and placed in the correct receptacle for recycling. Working relationships: You will be working for the Domestic Services Manager and/or the Domestic Services Supervisor, as part of the LMB Operations Group. Person Specification Education / qualifications / training required: Essential: • General standard of education. • Willingness to undertake on the job training Previous work experience required: Desirable: Previous cleaning experience Knowledge and experience: Desirable: Knowledge of cleaning techniques.
